... the FACTS

Born: Chicago, IL

Resides: Los Angeles, CA

Birth date: 1-30-70

Sign: Aquarius

Height: 6'2"

Hair: Light brown, it seems to have a life and a color of its own. When I was growing up, I used to be a tow head.

Eyes: Hazel

Family: I have three brothers and two sisters. I'm the youngest.

Status: Single, no children

Want children: Yes, absolutely

Nonsmoker. That's a nonnegotiable for me. I can't date a smoker. It's an instant turn off.

Education: I'm actually a lawyer, so I went pretty far. I never practiced. As soon as I got done taking the bar, I moved out to LA and started pursuing my acting career and I've never had to go back. I started acting in 95.

Occupation: Host of TLC's Overhaulin'. I've probably done about 30-40 commercials in my life and a few movies sprinkled in as well. I've been on CSI, X-Files, Two and a Half Men, Touched By An Angel.

... on HIMSELF

Strengths: "My sense of humor and intelligence. I have a pretty sharp wit. I'm pretty savvy, I guess. I can figure things out pretty quickly. I'm very loyal, to a fault sometimes."

Weaknesses: "I have a weakness for golf and great wine, especially with Italian food. And I'm a huge sushi fan too. Right now I'm very into a place called Kiono in BH."

Others may not see: "The fact that I'm really kind of down-to-earth is something that people don't know about me at first blush. You got to get to know me to realize that I'm just laid back and I'm not the kind of person that I occur to be because of my job or where I live or the industry that I'm in. I love sports, I love just hanging out at home. My ideal night is making some home cooking with my friends and hanging out and having some laughs."

I've been known to ... "be the jester in my group of friends. I always have them laughing and cracking jokes and making observations."

Interests: "I love to play golf, I love to watch golf. I'm a huge sports fan. I love the Clippers, I love the Chicago Bears. I love cars. I've got 5 cars. Four of them old. I have a 66 Chevy pickup truck, and a 68 GTX, 66 sport convertible, an 85 Porsche 911 and a 2005 Dodge Magnum. I love driving them and working on them and washing them. I work so much and travel so much, I really just like being at home. Since my commute is 50 miles one way down to our set, I drive the Porsche mostly. I love art. My hometown of Chicago has one of the best art museums in the world, the Art Institute of Chicago. They have an incredible collection of my favorite period of art, which is the impressionist period. My favorite artist is Edward Hopper. That kind of goes right in line with my other kind of passion for books. I'm a huge fan of noir. Raymond Chandler's my favorite author. I love Jans Elray. I love that era of art, I love that era of novels, I love that era of movies. LA Confidential is one my favorite movies. The apartment that I live in was built in 1939 and is really, really significant and cool architecturally and I love living there."

Turn-ons: "The weather in CA obviously makes me happy, knowing that I can go either to the beach or the mountains or the desert on any given day always makes me happy. I love waking up in the morning and going to make coffee and listen to Howard Stern and have a little free time at home. I also love going to work, I love my job, I love all the people I work with. I love having a job. I love my family. I talk to my sister every day. She's one of my best friends and a great sounding board. She's 4 1/2 years older than I am."

Turn-offs: "I really hate people who waste other people's time, whether consciously or especially unconsciously. The person who you're in line behind at the 7-11 and they take an extra minute putting away their receipt instead of just moving to the side so you can go on with your day, is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Not a lot of things drive me crazy. I'm a generally happy person. But time is something you can never get back and when you're wasting time whether it be yourself, or other people are wasting your time, it really frustrates me."

Special Talents: "I play guitar and the piano. I have for 1/2 my life. Since I was 17, I've been playing the guitar. I'm pretty good, I can hold my own. I do sing, yeah. I speak a little bit of Spanish, but that's it."

Charities: "Yeah, I do a lot of different charity golf events and things like that. And every time, I'm asked to name a specific charity, I always like to help out animal shelters in Los Angeles. Those are my favorite charities."

15 minutes of fame: "I was in a Rogaine ad that was spoofed on The Daily Show. And The Daily Show is one of my favorite TV programs and I thought it was pretty funny that I actually made an appearance on it. That was probably 6 years ago."

Travels: "I make appearances at a lot of car shows throughout the country. I like to go to NY and of course, I go back to my hometown of Chicago about 4-5 times a year or so. I also love Hawaii, that's one of my favorite spots too. I've been to Italy and to the south of France."

Spirituality: "I wouldn't say that I'm religious but I am definitely spiritual. I believe in God but I don't necessarily subscribe to any traditional religion. If I had to pick one, that was mainstream, I would say I'm more Buddhist than anything else. I respect all forms of life, I don't like to step on bugs or anything like that. I like spiders a lot ... "

Fashion sense: "I'm a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy. Fortunately I get to wear that at work every day but I also love getting dressed up. I got a great collection of suits and I have a pretty good fashion sense. I clean up pretty well."

Staying healthy: "I like to play tennis, pretty much anything that you can sweat. I don't really lift weights. If I go to the gym, I just run on the treadmill. But anything that's going to make you sweat and my favorite way to do that is tennis. I'm pretty lucky with genetics, I'm pretty lean, I have a very high metabolism so I really don't have to watch what I eat but I try to make sure that I sweat a few times a week so I can get all the toxins out."

What touches my soul: "Heart felt moments between family members. Also, on the show every week we get to make somebody's dream come true by giving them back a car that they never could have gotten themselves. And so the emotions between family members when they get that car back and also just the emotions that they have when they thank the A team for building them their dream car is very touching."

... on WOMEN

I first notice ... "other than just the overall aesthetics that I'm attracted to, a nice smile, good teeth are important to me. That's always one thing that stands out to me. Something that's not tangible is the confidence that a certain woman that I'm attracted to would exude. That's something that definitely I'm drawn to."

Attention-getters: "I don't think there's any one thing in particular that you can do. It's that thing where you don't quite know what it is but you'll know it when it's happening. I think a certain look, I'm a connection kind of person. there has to be a connection between the two people, no matter how much physical attraction there may be, if there's not that intangible connection, then it's not going to happen. There's always that first glance where you kind of know if there's going to be that connection. It's got to be mutual, if I'm attracted to a woman, and she's across the room, let's say with a group of her friends and I'm checking her out, if she's not giving back any sort of vibe, I know that it's not necessarily going to happen because there always has to be that initial connection."

Ideal woman: "Definitely, to narrow it down into simple terms, between a leader or a follower personality, I'd definitely have to have a leader personality. Someone who's going to be able to be my partner more than having me take care of them. Because I'm definitely a guy's guy when it comes to taking care of my woman, and the little gentlemanly things too, like opening the door and walking on the street side of the sidewalk, things like that. Confidence, have a great job, and most important, I think after the initial physical attraction is sense of humor. I have to be able to share a sense of humor with a person that I'm with or they're not going to get 1/2 my jokes. Someone who is close with their family, someone who loves animals, loves kids."

I can't resist a woman who ... "loves the NBA as much as me."

Most important quality in a woman: "Sense of humor and also a genuine person. Someone who is not duplicitous. What you see is what you get. Someone who's not motivated by anything."

I'd call a woman back after a first date ... "if there was that connection, how you feel. It's something that you can't fake, again it doesn't matter how physically attracted you are to a person if there's not that kind of comfort, there's not a bunch of awkward silences or you're not trying to invent conversation. If it's just real natural, and I'm comfortable being around that person, then I'd definitely call them back after a first date."

I would never date a woman who ... "smokes. That's obviously a deal breaker for me. I'd never date a woman who only talks about herself and doesn't ask any questions."

How I show I care: "I'm definitely romantic. I love courting a woman, sending her flowers, special things like that, special attention, definitely I'm good about that. Notes, little gifts, and definitely making sure that she's happy, and ask her how she feels, I just pay special attention to her."

What makes a woman unforgettable: "First of all, the way a woman smells is pretty important. I'm not talking about perfume, that's nice too, but when you really get intimate with a woman and just her natural pheromones are nice, that's pretty unforgettable to me."

What I wish women understood more about men: "It just seems to be wired in our brain that we have to be holding the remote. I know it's tough but if you can just give us that one little thing, we'd be a lot happier. We'll even put it on the channels you want to watch, but somehow we have to be charge of the remote."

One thing a woman has never done for me yet: "Yeah, maybe some of those things aren't really appropriate for print. And not to say that it hasn't happened, but I wish it would happen with more frequency, but surprise little lovin' encounters is always nice. A little lovin' when you least expect is always a pleasant surprise."

... on RELATIONSHIPS

Views on relationships: "I've had several long-term relationships, 3 or 4 that have lasted several years. You either grow together or you grow apart, it never stays the same. I've enjoyed being single, but I want to find a girlfriend again. I want to have someone who I can be with on a regular basis. I would say relationships are important to me."

What I love most about being in a relationship: "Just the comfort, like I said, I love hanging out at home and I guess the nice thing about a relationship is always having somebody to hang with no matter what you're doing, whether it's going out to see a movie, or going to a party or just simply making some dinner and hanging out at home. I probably date an average amount, I wouldn't say a lot but I'm definitely not a hermit by any means. I meet them either at parties, I'm not shy at all, if I see a woman in the grocery store who I'm attracted to, I'll go up and I'll strike up a conversation with her. If there's some sort of connection there, then maybe I'll ask her for her phone # or email address. There's women everywhere and all sorts of places to meet them."

Top relationship keys: "Comfort is probably the most important thing. When you can just be together and not have to say anything and also kind of knowing what each other are thinking. You got to really have a lot of commonalties. Of course, you don't have to have every thing in common, I think that might even be impossible to find, but you want to be able to know things without having to have them explain to you about a person. And also common interests make things a lot easier and more comfortable. Common interests are usually like food and definitely political beliefs. As far as just basic values. The current situation that we have in Iraq and the current president we have, if anybody really who I was going out with and was attracted to and said, `hey George Bush is a hell of a president, he's doing a great job, and we definitely belong in Iraq, I would really have to take a long hard look at what exactly I was attracted to in the first place."

A woman in a relationship with me can expect ... "a lot of down time. I'm not someone who likes to go out a lot and live like a fast life. I like being home, I like getting up early in the morning. A lot of activities, I guess, but not exactly social activities. I'm definitely a good boyfriend, very attentive. I'm kind, I don't like to pick fights or anything like that or be petty. Just generally pretty happy."

What I expect: "I expect her to contribute as much as I'm contributing to a relationship."

When I'm in love, I ... "I'm happy, I'm content. I'm present."

What makes me feel close to a woman: "Knowing each other, really understanding each other, not having to explain things constantly. I have a very unique sense of humor, and if I find myself not having to explain myself, if somebody gets an odd reference that I make or something, that really makes me feel close to that person. Because I feel like were kind of like mind."

Greatest relationship lesson: "Trust your own instincts. If something doesn't seem right, then it probably isn't. Not to say that you should give in to your paranoia, but if you got a feeling about something, then investigate it, don't assume it's not happening, just because you tell yourself, `oh, I'm just being paranoid."

What makes a woman marriage material: "Definitely having a great job and being a leadership personality. Someone who is going to be a partner instead of just someone who I would take care of and have to make all the decisions and take care of all the responsibilities."

... on SEX

What makes sex good: "Definitely a connection during sex is the most important thing. It's a huge turn on to me for the woman to be just as into it as I am."

I feel my sexiest when ... "I don't know, I'm pretty sexy all the time. I have no idea, I don't really think of myself like "Am I sexy right now? Or am I not sexy right now? I'm probably just sexiest when I'm just patting around the house."

Most sensual part of a woman's body: "I'm pretty partial to the stomach. Something about the stomach is really attractive to me, also the side of the neck, behind the ear, that's always a good spot too."

Sexiest thing a woman can wear in private: "I love lingerie. I love sexy G-strings, and a tiny top. Anything that's going to show off the physique is obviously very sexy when you're in private. Black is always nice."

Surefire way to seduce me: "I'm definitely attracted to the chase. It's kind of a turn off to me when women come on too strong to me. I like to work for it a little bit. It's nice, but if you approach me, you better have what it's going to take to back it up. I know what I like, I'm not going to lower my standards just because a woman is aggressive to me. I'm definitely picky."

... on LIFE

Making my mark: "I don't know if I necessarily need to make my mark on the world. I'm just trying to do what's going to make me happy and not make the world a worse place for it. I don't really feel like I need to make a mark on the world. I'm pretty content just being happy. I have a great group of friends, I love what I do for a living, I love where I live. I love the part of the country that I live in. I love the fact that I have the freedom to pursue my hobbies. I guess I'm making my mark on the world just by doing that. I certainly aspire to greater things in my career but my motivation is definitely not making any mark on the world. I don't think the world necessarily needs me to make a mark on it."

Responsibility to society: "I think everybody's got a responsibility to society in general to live a civil life. Not to commit crimes, and not to take advantage of people who are weaker or less intelligent. I think it's much more of a sign of humanity that you can help those people out and make the world a better place by not contributing to the world in a negative way. It makes me crazy when I see people driving down the street with smoke pouring out of their exhaust. There's obviously something wrong with their car and it's a negative contribution to the world when they ignore that and keep driving around. Or when I see people throw cigarette butts out the window, it's just irresponsible. You got to be environmentally and socially responsible. So that's how I contribute to society overall, just to make sure that I keep my own personal corner of the world, socially and environmentally responsible, and if everybody did that, the world would be around for a much longer time."

Valuable life lesson: "Be true to yourself. Believe in yourself. If something doesn't feel right to you, don't give in to that, just because you think that other people want. You got to stand up for yourself and what you believe in because certainly no one else is going to."

I must ... "break 80 (meaning my golf score) and have kids."

Best advice received: "Save your money. Don't be a spendthrift. I live within my means for sure. I live comfortably but I don't spend foolishly."

Best advice I've given a woman: "I have 3-4 very close female friends and we kind of bounce relationship troubles off of each other. I have one very close friend - we call each other Harry and Sally - I guess I tell her - Just be aware of her patterns. Not to necessarily to avoid them, because we're attracted to who we're attracted to but awareness is 90% of the battle. Just be aware of what your patterns and notice when you're falling into them so you're not hurt when it doesn't work out."

... on HIS FAVORITE THINGS

Movie: "Big Lebowsky."

TV Show: "Family Guy is fantastic. I love the Sopranos. Six Feet Under was great while it was on. Strike all that, my favorite all time favorite TV show is called The Shield."

Book: "I'm a Raymond Chandler freak. He wrote 7 different novels all settling around the same characters. To me, they operate as one book."

Music: "The Stones."

Food: "Italian and sushi are neck and neck. But if I had to pick just one, I'd have to say Italian."

... final THOUGHTS

Pets: "I have two cats. I would love to have a dog, but I travel way too much. It wouldn't really be fair to the dog. And the cats kind of hang out with each other, that's why I have two of them actually so when I leave town, they don't go stir crazy. They're just house cats. Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippin."

Tattoos/piercings: "I just actually got a tattoo on the show Miami Ink. It is a thing that was designed by my friend Chip who's on Overhaulin' with me. He's a phenomenal artist and it's actually a V8 symbol, which is to designate the engine not the vegetable juice. It's wearing a crown and then there's some flames coming out of the top of the crown."

Always in my refrigerator: "Cold air. I would say Gatorade and Hershey's dark chocolate. It's one of my great weaknesses, I love it. Pop it in the fridge, beak off a little piece, it's a great little treat, and it's good for you too."

Hottest possession: "The guitar that I've had since I was 17."

I'd change places for 24 hours with ... "If I had to pick one, I'd say Tiger Woods because when he hits a golf ball, it must feel like having sex. I mean it's perfect. I'm sure I've come close to that feeling before on maybe one or two of my shots I've ever taken in my life but he probably feels it every time he hits the golf ball so that'd be pretty amazing."

I'd most like to hang out with ... "Keith Richards or Pete Townsend. Just because I'm a huge classic rock fan, those guys are true artists and geniuses, in my opinion and I'd just like to kind of hang with them and see what motivates them. Townsend especially because he's such a great songwriter."

Celeb I'd love to take on a date: "Obviously there's tons of them. Jessica Alba comes to mind immediately. She's definitely physically attractive to me. I have no idea what she's like as a person."

Why I'm such a great catch: "I'm intelligent, I have a great sense of humor, I'm good-natured, very easy to get along with. I'm young, healthy, relatively good looking or so I've been told, I think those are all pretty good qualities. And also very loyal in a relationship."

Me in a word: "Genuine."
