on HERSELF
Strengths: "Integrity and honesty."
Weakness: "Grouchy when not enough sleep or woken up too
early. I don't handle being tired well."
I've been known to ... "be spontaneous at times, but it's
not my nature. I'm a planner. I once hopped a plane to Reno NV
just to see Nine Inch Nails play in concert. I stayed at the
Hilton. I didn't leave the hotel for 3 days until I had to fly
back home."
Interests: "Reading, music, concerts, the beach. I'm
a water baby! Travel, learning foreign languages, dining out
to different places, wine. I'm a 1970's nostalgic fanatic
- give me the hustle, David Cassidy, and mood rings again!
Flea markets, carnivals, fairs, movies, art gallery shows. I
am open to almost anything."
Turn ons: "A nice smile, manners, a man who smells good.
I'm into hands, so I like a man to take care of his hands - no
rough mitts for me! Good sense of humor is a must! Calling
when you say you will."
Turn offs: "Bad teeth and breath, rudeness - especially
towards service industry workers, chronic lateness and too
many white lies. And not calling when you say you will."
Special talents: "Hmm - If I'm sitting on the floor with
my knees bent, I can balance a coffee mug on my knees
while watching TV if that counts as a talent - LOL!"
Awards: "None that I can recall, a couple in high school
for being in the concert choir. Oh - I was awarded badges
while in the Girl Scouts - I think they are a great
institution. I love the cookies!"
Charities: "I try to give to the needy when I can by
volunteering."
15 minutes of fame: "When unbeknownst to me, my picture
was in US Today regarding a Christmas service for JonBenet
Ramsey while I was in Boulder Colorado."
Travels: "To celebrate my 40th, I flew to Europe visiting
Paris, Switzerland, and Rome where I saw my first opera on my
birthday. Visiting Europe was the time of my life! I want to
go again! I've also been to Cancun and Jamaica."
Religion: "I believe in God and pray regularly. I was
raised Roman Catholic, but I don't attend church regularly but
I love to go to midnight Christmas Mass - It's so beautiful
with all the candles lit."
Fashion sense: "I like wearing all types of clothing.
Being a retro nut, I enjoy retro fashions. I like to read
Vogue and magazines that show what's hip in the now."
Staying healthy: "I enjoy walking and dancing to keep in
shape. I have weights that I use when I'm watching TV. I have
Turbo Jam too that I'm trying to be more dedicated in using. I
like to bike when I can use one and roller blading."
What touches my soul: "Hmm - a beautiful sunset. a hearty
laugh, a look of genuine love in someone's eyes. A soulful
gospel choir."
...
on MEN
Attention-getters: "A nice smile, being mannered - I dislike
the "player approach," being well dressed - I dislike
the backward hat thing and the baggy pants. Showing genuine
interest in me."
Ideal man: "Someone who knows what he wants and is honest
and up front with me. No game playing. I value honesty and I
have respect for someone who can be. I also value
intelligence. Not necessarily pompous but I have a keen mind
and I want someone I can relate to on different things. I can
be opinionated at times."
I can't resist a man ... "with green eyes! I have a thing
about them - hazel eyes like mine also get me - and
a nice smile."
Most important quality: "Honesty."
Ideal date: "Hmm - I usually like to go to dinner, but
I'm open for something fun and different like an amusement
park or maybe a art gallery show opening. I like to do
different things."
I'd
want to see a man again after a first date ... "if
we get along and things seem to clink and he asked to see
me again, yes I would go on a second date."
I'd never date a man who ... "was rude or nasty to
people, or cruel to animals or would make fun of
handicapped or people in need. Or a bad tipper to service
industry workers."
How I show I care: "I may pay attention to his
likes and dislikes. For example, if I know he likes to drink
Sprite soda, I know to have some around. I also may tell him
that if he needs to talk or share anything with me, I'm all
ears and it will remain between him and I."
What makes a man unforgettable: "To me, probably
surprising me in a good way which doesn't happen too often,
which would make me not forget him! lol."
I wish men understood ... "we say what we mean and mean
what we say, or at least I do."
One thing a man has never done for me yet, but I would love
it:: "Ask
me to marry him! And tell me I make him want to be a better
man!"
... on RELATIONSHIPS
On marriage/relationships: "They are hard work to
maintain. People need to be honest and really communicate
needs in the beginning. And work as a team - It's 100%/100%. A
lot of divorces could be prevented if they would have done
that - talk about everything - sex, money, kids, work,
household chores, religion, in-laws, etc. before they get
married or move in together. I envy people who can make it to
the 50, 60 and even 70 year mark and still love each other
even more than they did when they first got married. Romance needs
to be kept alive. I wish there were more marriages like
that today! I hope I have one of them someday."
Top relationship keys: "To me, it has to be total
acceptance of the other person. No one is perfect and even
though you may not like certain things about your partner, you
must accept them or if you can't then that person is not the
one for you."
A
man in a relationship with me can expect ... "total
honesty and consideration, support and understanding - of
course I expect that for me as well. I am a believer in the
give and take equally."
What
I expect: "Hmm,
that's a tough one because I've been told (more than once)
that my standards are too high, but I feel I can expect
understanding, unconditional acceptance, honesty and putting
in efforts for something important to the other one (i.e.:
making a holiday or birthday meaningful, for example. Also,
communication is important. I also know, that I can be
expected to adhere to these rules as well - lol!"
When I'm in love, I ... "smile
a lot more!"
What makes me feel close to a man: "When
we have mutual understandings that we "get" each
other."
Greatest
relationship lesson: "You
can't change the other person no matter how much you want to.
It won't happen. They must change themselves. What you see is
what you get - be careful what you wish for."
What makes a man marriage material: "Compatibly,
willingness to commit in the marriage, devotion to the
person."
...
on SEX
What makes sex good: "You
have to have a good sense of humor because things can and will
go wrong - LOL I love good kissing - that is crucial for me. I
like my back rubbed too. It relaxes me. Communication is
crucial here. Body compatibility is important because
sometimes, bodies simply just don't fit right together at
times. I don't take sex lightly. It works better for me when
I'm in a relationship. But a 'nooner' occasionally works for
me too!"
I feel my sexiest when ... "when
I'm dancing around my bedroom, in my cute underwear to old
school 70's or dance music. Hopefully not secretly being
watched although I probably had been. On a summer's day or
night on the beach with my sundress on. And looking over the
city at night with all the lights on with a sexy guy by my
side."
Most
sensual part of a man's body: "I
like hands! I also like the neck and upper chest part. I like
to smell a man's neck and it's a plus if he's wearing good
cologne."
Sexiest thing a man can wear in private: "Nothing
at all."
Surefire
way for a man to seduce me: "By
taking the lead and make it work - planning the dinner -
either making it himself, or finding the place, yummy
deserts, mood music, candles, slow dancing after dinner. Be
creative guys - woman or at least I do, appreciate that effort
you make."
...
on LIFE
Making my mark: "By
being the best person I can be."
Responsibility to society: "I
believe people need to help each other and be more
understanding to problems. I survived Katrina and I saw the
good, bad, and ugly side of human life during that time. Some
people, through physical or mental handicaps, can't help themselves
at times and they need our help. Help can be volunteering,
donations, or simply asking them what you can do to help. Just
talking to someone can brighten their life."
Valuable life lesson: "That
there are some bad people out there and not everyone has your
best interest at heart."
I must ... "get
married, obtain my own home, and travel as much of the world
as I can."
Best advice received: "Probably
to be yourself."
Best advice I've given a man:
"Don't tell someone you love them when you don't - It's
not fair to you or the other person."
... on HER FAVORITE THINGS
Movie: "I
like all kinds - foreign, comedies - Johnny Stecchino, The
Godfather, 9.5 Weeks, Shampoo, Goodfellas, Natural Born
Killers, Saturday Night Fever, My Big Fat Greek Wedding."
TV Show: "How
I Met Your Mother, 2.5 Men, CNN, Oprah, Swingtown when it was
on, Life on Mars, Sex and the City."
Book: "I
have several that I liked: Intensity by Dean Koontz, Somewhere
off the Coast of Maine by Ann Hood, Weekend in Paris by Robin
Sisman. I love to read and I've read so many, it's hard to
pick favorites."
Music: "All
kinds - Nine Inch Nails, 70's rock like Aerosmith, Bad
Company, The Eagles, old school funk like Sly and the Family
Stone, The Doors, Classical, Disco. I like some Techno.
80's stuff like Duran Duran."
Food: "I'm
not a good cook, but I enjoy all kinds of food, and I like to
try different places to eat - Italian, French, Chinese, some
sushi, Thai."
... final THOUGHTS
Wheels: "I
drive a Honda Accord - I love that car!"
Pets: "I
have a Hemmingway kitty named Lucy Liu - named after the
actress and the late great queen of comedy - Lucille
Ball."
Tattoos/piercings: "No
tattoos, I have a belly ring."
Items always in my refrigerator:
"Milk, OJ, soda, and beer, eggs - you can make a quick
meal with them."
Hottest possession: "I
guess my photos - they have so many memories for me."
I'd change places for 24 hours with ... "Oprah
Winfrey - she's a great humanitarian."
I'd most like to hang out with ... "any
famous person just to see what their lives were really
like. It probably would surprise me."
Celeb I'd love to go on a date with: "All
my friends tease me about my "crush" on Trent Reznor
and he's got green eyes - lol."
Why I'm a great catch: "I
am a sincere, honest person who would never mislead anyone. If
someone is looking for that in a mate, I'm her! I would stick
by someone through the good and bad times in life."
Me in a word: "Unconventional
(in a good way)."
