ROB
"I want what everyone else wants, a family," says 31-year-old "Mr. June" Rob. "I'm ready now; I'm still having fun but if the right girl came along, I'd be done." Born in Staten Island, this 5'8" N.Y.
lieutenant in the fire department believes one of his best qualities is his sense of humor. "I'm a funny guy; I enjoy laughing at anyone's expense including my own," says Rob. "Not a lot of people are able to laugh at themselves." What makes a woman unforgettable to this blue-eyed Gemini? "A woman who makes me feel better about myself, who takes me up to that next level," says Rob. "If you're a Triple A ball player, she makes you feel like a major leaguer."
STATS
Born: Staten Island, NY
Resides: Staten Island
Birth date: June 18, 1973
Sign: Gemini
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 183 lbs.
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: 1/2 Italian, 1/2 Norwegian
Family: 2 older sisters, 5 nephews, parents still together
Status: Never married, no children
Education: Graduated University of Buffalo with a degree in education. Was on a wrestling scholarship in college. Was an assistant coach in wrestling after college until he became a firefighter.
Occupation: Lieutenant in the Fire department.
On being a fireman: "There's no better place to be than in the firehouse. Not too many people can say that they love going to work. The other thing is that you get to help people in a jam. That's one of the great things about this job. That's why when you're walking around in your bunker gear, people always smile and say hello. Not to sound hokey, but it gives you a nice feeling."
On being a hero: "As a matter of fact, I feel kind of weird when people say that. Not that it bothers me, but it's just I just don't feel like one, you know. I'd rather just be Joe Fireman; the word hero sounds kind of weird, to me. I haven't really done anything to deserve that."
On being a calendar boy: "I enjoyed it, it's a lot of fun. One thing about me is I know how to dish it out and you got to know how to laugh at yourself a little bit and you got to be able to laugh at yourself when you do something like this, you can't take yourself too seriously. It is for a good cause and if it helps you meet a couple girls along the way, so be it."

... on HIMSELF
Rob is a man who ... "tries to have a positive outlook, always tries to have a good time and make the people around him have a good time."
Best Qualities: "At the firehouse, with those guys, I make people laugh, just the way I am. I relate to people, I can mix with anybody and I get along with everyone. I'm a pretty funny guy. I enjoy laughing at anyone's expense including my own. Not a lot of people are able to laugh at themselves. A lot of times, I not only laugh at myself, I instigate it and I encourage them to rip on me a little bit. I have a great family. I know I'm a very good person. If I like someone, there's nothing I'll fail to do for him or her, I'll do anything. I just would do anything for my friends or people who are close to me. In a relationship, I'm loyal. Put it this way, when I'm done with a relationship, at least I can look back and say, `I did everything right.' I'm outgoing but can be a little shy around women but once I warm up, I warm up very fast."
Strengths: "I do a lot for my friends or a girlfriend. I'm very loyal. There are givers and takers; I would like to think that I'm a giver. But that's also my weakness. I'm an emotional guy, not a mess, but if I like someone they know I like them and sometimes you have to be better at masking your feelings."
Weakness: "With a girl, I'm a softie. I'm a little too soft. Instead of being firm with things, I usually give in which was probably my death in my last relationship. I'm ambitious, I really believe from wrestling all those years, it teaches you so much about discipline and being focused in your life and I'm always like that, but with girls it really doesn't apply."
Others may not see: "That I'm as spiritual. I'm pretty religious. I don't miss Mass. Everyone says that's just the opposite of how I thought you were. There's a lot of stereotypes out there, just because you lift weights doesn't mean you're an idiot and just because I like going out and meeting girls doesn't mean I can't have a spiritual side. My good friends know. It's kind of like a curveball to girls or to my friends, but when they start getting close to me they'll realize that I try to be, I'm not saying I am - but I try to be a good person."
I've been known to ...: "excuse my French, be a ball breaker. It's getting back to the fire dept., you like to have fun at the fire dept., I'm always teasing guys, playing jokes on them, making fun of them. That's what makes you have a good time in the firehouse. I like to laugh and sometimes guys will say, `aw he's out of his mind.' I just have a great sense of humor, a wicked sense of humor, I'll make fun of pretty much anything and I'll laugh at anything. Everyone's fair game."
Interests: "I coach my old high school wrestling team, that takes a lot of time. People were good enough to teach me, I try to pass it along and help out all the kids. I love to fish, I like being out on the water, and I love to work out."
Turn ons: "Ambitious people (a guy can't turn me on no matter what he does) so I'm talking about girls, a friend can be my friend if he's the laziest guy in the world. As far as women, girls who are ambitious turn me on. It's a drag dating a girl, no matter how pretty she is, if she has no passion in her life. I like to work out; I like to improve myself in all facets of life. That's why I go to church every Sunday. My nephews are the ultimate turn on for me in life. I'm looking to buy a house and I don't want to move too far from them. And I love my job."
Turn offs: "Laziness, procrastination, conceitedness in a woman, lack of humility people have."
Special Talents: "As far as musical talents, I kind of suck at everything like that. My special talents are probably physical strength and wrestling."
Awards: "In college, I was collegiate state champ in 1996. Mr. June in 2003 Firefighter calendar."
Charities: "Just coaching at my old high school."
15 minutes of fame: "With Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, MSNBC, CNN, Talk Back Live and various radio stations promoting the calendar."
Spirituality: "I'm Catholic. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a religious freak."
My fashion sense: "I don't think you can categorize me. I try to be a little different. I'm definitely not a preppie. I'm probably more on the Guido side. I like wearing Calvin Klein, Donna Karan. The style around here is semi-tight if you have a decent build, a little snug. If I'm single, I'll wear something like that. It's funny when you dress in clothes like that which are a little snug, without a doubt you meet more girls, it's sad but it's true. But if I'm out on a date, I wear a collared shirt that's a bit tight. Everyday life, I work out a lot and I work out pretty hard so it's shorts, t-shirt."
Staying healthy: "From wrestling all my life. If I were not going to work out hard, I don't work out at all, I'd rather sit on the couch. I don't go for a jog, I run as hard as I can. If I lift, I lift as heavy as I can and as hard as I can. I try to eat healthy, but at the firehouse, there's really no choice. Either you eat that or you won't eat at all."
What touches my soul: "Givers. If a girl is a good person and she's very giving, it makes her glow."
... on WOMEN
On marriage: "I want to get married and have kids, I want what everyone else wants, a family, but I just haven't met her yet. And if I have met her, then the timing was off. It's meeting the right person, but you both have to be on the same wavelength. If you're not on the sane wavelength, you're just kidding yourself. I'm ready now, I'm 29, and I've had a lot of fun. I'm still having fun but if the right girl came along, I'd be done."
A woman can get my attention ...: "just by smiling. When a girl smiles, it brings her down to earth a little bit."
Ideal woman: "A girl who would try to put me first and that's what I would do for her. You always try to put her over and above everything. She has to be happy with herself, she has to feel good about herself, be confident, that's huge. Confidence, that's very sexy. She has to be ambitious. Now that I'm getting older, I look at a girl's family a lot, where she comes from. She has to have a strong sense of family. Family's huge; I mean I'm Italian. Italians are very into family. It's important that she has similar spiritual beliefs. I would like her to be able to cook. I can cook, pretty decent actually. Another thing, she has to have a great sense of humor. One thing that I love is if you can joke around with a girl and she can take it and the best is if she can give it back a little bit, that's awesome. Some girls you joke around with them and they're ready to crumble, that's not good. A girl has to have a little bit of a thick skin."
Top relationship keys: "Definitely communication, being honest with your emotions, how you feel. My two best relationships were where she was like my best friend. And that's what sucks about losing them too. You used to talk to them everyday and then when you're done, that's not how it is. And loyalty is big too. If I have a hint that the girls not loyal to be, that's it, she's done, Because I know what I am and I know that trait in me isn't really in too many other guys."
What makes a woman unforgettable: "A woman who makes me feel better about myself or more proud of myself than I am, she takes you up to that next level. If you're a triple A ball player, she makes you feel like you're a major leaguer."
A woman in a relationship with me can expect: "I don't want to say
pampered. Pampered makes you sound like you'll be taken care of, but I'm saying emotionally taken care of. I try, which is again a weakness, but I put a girl up on a pedestal, which again is not the greatest thing all the time. For the right girl it is, but I just don't think I've met the right one. I like to have fun."
What I expect: "For the girl to treat me number one, to put me, this might sound conceited, but I put them up high and if I'm in love with a girl, they're number one and I just want that equal place in her heart."
When I'm in love, ... "nothing really rattles me."
Greatest relationship lesson: "Like that old expression, be true to yourself, don't settle."
Ideal date: "A baseball game, something where you can have a decent conversation. Dinners are no good, because my table manners are probably not the greatest. The ultimate thing would be like an amusement park or fishing. A movie is no good because you don't talk to the girl, you don't know anything about her."
I can't resist a woman who ... : "is confident within herself."
How I show a woman I care about her: "With a lot of little things, maybe like picking her up something nice, not for an occasion like a birthday or picking her up from the train if she didn't expect it. Just nice little surprises, complimenting her on something that isn't so obvious."
One thing a woman has done for me that has made me melt: "The first time a girl told me that she loved me."
Most important quality in a woman: "A genuineness, being her own person, not trying to be like anyone else."
What puts me in the mood: "Her taking initiative definitely puts me the mood. I love aggressive women. Black lingerie is key."
Why I'm such a great catch: "I'm a genuine guy. I joke around a lot with people and I like to have fun and have a good sense of humor but deep down inside I know I'm a good person, and no one can say otherwise. It's nice to know when people ask about you, like at the fire dept., it's a big job but everyone knows everyone, it's nice to know when they say your name, nobody has a bad word to say about you. No matter what, I just know in my heart that I'm a good person and I treat girls well, like I said, probably too well, but I'm getting better at that."
I wish women understood ... 'that labels don't apply to everyone, not all men are players, not all men are cheats. You cannot stereotype, don't judge a book by its cover. You don't know me, don't make references about me."
... on HIS FAVORITE THINGS
Movie: "Godfather 1 and 2, Saving Private Ryan."
TV Show: "I don't watch TV, Seinfeld was my favorite."
Music: "I listen to everything, mostly rock though, new and old."
Food: "Everything, I really don't have a favorite food, I'm not finicky. If you give me something, I'll eat it, I'll try anything."
Season: "Spring and Fall. Summer's good too, just not the winter."
on ... LIFE
Making My Mark: "Just by trying to be me. By living my life as good as I can live it."
Responsibility to Society: "To be a positive influence as a fireman, as a future husband, a future father, as a wrestling coach."
Valuable life lesson: "To treat everyone as you want to be treated."
What I try to get out of life every day: "I just try to extract the good thing of what I like about it, the positives. I've always been that way. I always take a negative situation and try to put a positive spin on it. If I don't get what I want, then God felt that wasn't in the cards for me right now."
I must ... "see the world, be a good friend to those people close to me, and be a good father."
Best advice I've received: "Be true to yourself."
I would like to change places for 24 hours with ... "no one. I'm pretty happy.
Something silly, maybe Derek Jeeter for 24 hours, but not really."
I would most like to hang out with ... "just the people that I hang out with now, those are my friends. Is it nice to meet famous people, yeah? But do I really care, not really. I'm not really into hobnobbing."
Nicknames: "I have about 30 of them. Rockhead,
Cementhead, Bevis"
Wheels: 1996 Silver corvette
Always in my refrigerator: "Not that much, chicken, protein packs, peanut butter, jelly, water."
Hottest possession: "My car."
Secret fantasy: "Nothing really comes to my mind, I take what I can get, I'm not delusional."
Me in a word: "Funny."
